Despite the fact that plans from the developer were going to leave approximately 23 acres of this land undisturbed, provide a 35 foot buffer between Old Reaves Ferry Road and the homes, and have pocket parks to offset lost green space, the Horry County Planning Commission votes to disapprove the request.
It’s possible that concern from neighbors factored into the decision from the Horry County Planning Commission. There are a number of other new home communities in the area such as Auberon Woods, Olde Mill and Fieldview that are still under construction that will certainly bring even more traffic to this area.
The next step will involve review from Horry County City Council.
Despite this setback, D. R. Horton continues to be a strong presence in Myrtle Beach and the surrounding area of Myrtle Beach with approximately 50 developments currently under construction and another dozen in the planning stages to be developed in the future in the Myrtle Beach area.
